OOC Rules
The Hapes Consortium strives, as a group of players, to create an environment free of real life discrimination and harassment, and therefore has the moral responsibility to enforce a certain OOC etiquette for the wellbeing of the players who take part in this simulation.
All players are to respect the dignity of one another and not, in any way shape or form, discriminate one another on the basis of real life race, sex, faith, nationality, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, socio-political affiliation, etc.
Any player who knowingly harasses another in any way shape or form will be expelled from the Hapes Consortium CMG and any of its affiliates, boards, chat rooms, etc. Major cases of harassment will also be reported to the Combine Administration.
Mandatory requirements
§1 All Hapans should use IRC if possible.
§2 Members MUST login frequently on Hapes site and on the SWCombine.
§3 Members must fill out an LOA when leaving or they will be accounted
for MIA.
§4 If a member recruits a new member, 50.000 credits and a recruiting
plate will be given.
§5 Although the Robin Hood school of Culture & Social Education takes
care of newbees, the actual recruiter is suppose to help the newbee get himself
into hapes. (For example; if newbee has problems, he should be able to contact
the person that recruited him and chat about it. The recruiter should keep up
good communications with newbie.)
§6 Any and all good Hapes or Hapan recruiting banners will be rewarded with
a cash bonus of 250 k.
§7 From Captain/Colonel rank up, an officer will receive a house on a
Hapan planet.
§8 Good deeds or accomplishments in Hapes will be rewarded in a city being
named after the member.
§9 Moderators must do their job, posts untouched for 14 days and + must
be removed.
§10 All extra jobs (Fleet CO's, (marine)Unit CO's, AOP, Moderators etc
will be rewarded with a hapes.org email.
§11 Hapan members visiting message boards hosted by the Star Wars Combine,
are required to use their Hapan sigs in their posts. Private sigs may be made
used on the Star Wars Combine message boards if they are approved by the King
first.
General Knowledge
Never forget that this is a game. You are playing a character and not yourself.
Never get personal of give out bad personal remarks. Unfortunately many people
forget this, it has happened that superior officers have received mail bombs,
just because they didn't promote a lower officer (he then got pissed off and
this is the result). When you are in a chat, or over icq and are having a little
trouble with someone, never get personal. Play cool and play your character,
never forget this.
Signature Card Rules
All Hapans must request a signature card and avatar to be made for them in the
Graphics Corner on the Hapan forum, as soon as they gain access to that forum.
Members are responsible in making sure it is updated to reflect any rank or contact
changes, or to have it renewed if it's expired.
Hapan members are allowed to have one signature add-on, that is a 400x39 pixels
banner, which represents their divisional or departmental information. All sig
add-on design templates must be approved by the King before their distribution to
members. The sig add-on must be in .GIF format, hosted on the Hapes.org server and
must be displayed under the general signature card.
If a member holds multiple signature add-ons due to his participation in several
departments, then he may request to have all his sig add-ons consolidated into a
single .GIF banner with a 3-second refresh rate cycling through the different
signature add-ons - Under no circumstances, should a Hapan display more than one
.GIF banner in his signature field. Failure to abide by these directives may result
in suspension from the Hapan forums.

Icq
In comparison with an email, ICQ is considered 50/50. It can be used to be
on duty and off duty. While an email is mostly official, ICQ gives us the possibility
to loose tension among members.
When coming online, and seeing a higher-ranking officer of Hapes online it
is expected that you message the person and salute. It is as though you walk
down a corridor and pass by a higher-ranking officer, like in real life, you
salute. The officer then has the possibility to reply *RS* (short for returns
salute) and add, *off duty*, thus letting the lower officer know he can speak
rather much freely. It is also possible for the lower officer to state he is
off duty, such as: *SALUTES* *off duty* I think you get the point. With time,
you will also notice that icq becomes more or less, the face of your character.
Meetings are often held over ICQ or other chats, it is so to speak, our person.
Two specials commands give it a little extra spice, if you write OOC you are
meaning out of character, IC is in character. So, IC: you are an asshole. OOC:
nothing personal!!
mIRC & other chats
In mIRC and other chats it is required that you salute any higher-ranking officers
in the room and bow to any members of the royal family or the House of Lords.
Officers already in the room are not required to salute back if the room has
more than 4 members, but may do so anyway, as this is considered setting an
example.
IRC SOCIAL/GENERAL RULES:
§1 Use of the #cmg-hapes Channel
The #cmg-hapes room on irc is a non-DB related chat that is there for the fun of
everyone.
§2 Nickname / Display name
The nick you use should either be your call sign (which is military only and
mostly only used by fighter pilots) or your official combine handle (slight
changes are allowed, for example your name is Master App Rofer Dude I'm cool
- you can simply call yourself Master_App ). Also see §3.
Changing your name to represent your status is mandatory e.g. King_James to
King_J[a]mes (the [a] in this case indicating away) or King_James[N/A] (N/A
= Not Available) and so on.
If you are visiting another chat room somewhere else and wish to use another
nick we suggest you open another mIRC window and change your nick in there.
§3 Rank
All Member's rank must be shown at all times. For example, Jack Brown is a Sergeant
in the RHA. His name should be "Sgt_Jack_Brown" or simply "Sgt_Brown."
A full list of appropriate rank abbreviations can be found on the ranks page.
§4 Conduct
It is expected that all officers are courteous to one-another and that they
show proper respect and conduct. It is not allowed to insult another officer
directly or indirectly whether he is present or not. Disrupting the peace will
result in a PM warning, then a kick, then a ban.
§5 Bowing / Saluting
* When you enter a room you must salute all higher ranking officers.
* Should an officer ranked the equivalent of Commodore or above enter the room,
the highest ranking officer present must salute on behalf of the rest of the
officers in the room. (If the highest ranking officer is higher ranked than
the Flag officer entering the room, the roles are reversed as per the above
rule).
* All civilians must nod to the Prime Minister and Ministers of the Crown.
* You must bow to all nobles upon entering the room.
* You are required to bow to any members of the Royal Family should they enter
the room or be present when you enter.
§6 Star Wars, not the Sims
We are here to play star wars and not the Sims. Therefore kissing and hugging
in the room is to be kept to a minimum. Should your wife, husband or boy/girlfriend
enter the room, one kiss is the most you are allowed to type. Should you for
some reason be living your sexual imagination to the full and playing a bisexual
character, kissing / hugging is totally prohibited as the room is there for
members to chat with each other, not watching perverse individuals harassing
others. This rule may seem out of the blue, but we have had it happen before.
Feel free to do what ever you want in a private message dialog with that person.
§7 Swearing
Swearing is allowed to a certain degree. It is not allowed to swear at somebody
or about someone (i.e.: I hate my fucking CO) it is however allowed to swear
in extreme cases (i.e.: you find out your emails were hacked, i.e.: "Fucking
hell!"). Swearing all the time, repeatingly or for the sake of it will
not be tolerated.
§8 Disrespect
Refusing to bow/salute, showing disrespect to fellow members, insulting or derogatory
statements, and/or being rude will result in the @ reporting the event to your
commanding officer. Should you not stop after being asked the @ will ban you
for the rest of his shift (i.e. time spent as an @).
§9 Bickering / Arguing,
Bickering and/or arguing is not allowed. Constructive discussing is. So for
example: I
Allowed: I am against the new regulations because they are not well thought
over, the stats of the new ships would be better put to use somewhere else.
Not Allowed: Oh screw you and your regulations, they suck.
§10 Atmosphere,
Should someone be disturbing the general atmosphere in the room an OP may warn
him/her. A second warn will result in a kick and a third in a ban.
ADMINISTRATION RULES:
§1 avoice ( + )
As more experienced irc users will know, there are more possibilities than just
the regular chatter. You can get AVOICE. avoice simply means that if a chat
operator mutes the channel you will still be able to talk unlike all the other
users. It is also used to allow op's to give you the op status.
As our chat room is for members only, we like to have an op in the room at all
times to "remove" or kick outsiders. Due to many reasons our channel
has OPGUARD activated. This means that only the pre-saved op's will get operator
status on joining and the avoice users will be able to obtain the op status
from the existing op's, however only if they are away, busy or leaving.
If an avoice user breaks any of the rules, they will lose their avoice status
until such a time as they are deemed suitably punished.
In our chatroom all avoice users are either OP's in training, reserve OP's (
this is when the top amount of OP's has been reached) or previous OP's that
no longer have OP status. When an operator leaves the chat room and there are
no more OP's he must op and avoice if present.
§2 Operators ( @ )
If someone floods the room;
a, 4 times in 5 seconds
b, 3 times the same line in a row
or
a, spams the room with nonsense
b, disobeys rules (stated above)
c, does not belong in Hapes
You are required to kick them if they do not have permission from either an
Operator or their commanding officer. Note that non-hapan members are to be
asked their name first, along with what CMG they are from.
§3 Warnings
Warning a member is done over a PM, after the warning if the member continues
to disobey the operator will kick him, then if he continues, a ban.
§4 Operators leaving the room
If you leave the channel and there are no more operators present then you must
op somebody with avoice. You can op somebody with avoice whilst you're away,
or busy. That way you can also keep an eye on him/her to see if he/she is doing
a good job. If there is no one with avoice present, use your best judgement
to choose which officer to op.
If an Op marks themselves as away or busy, and there are other Ops present,
they are to immediately De-Op themselves. They may, however, avoice themselves
as a reminder to any other Ops present that he/she is to be re-Oped upon return
to full activity.
§5 Keeping the OP list tidy
It is not prohibited to have more than three (3) operators in the room, op'd,
at the same time. However, should this happen, the lowest ranking op is expected
to de-op him/herself out of courtesy. If an Operator leaves after having "bumped"
another Op, they are to re-instate the former op's status.
§6 Misusing op powers
Misusing op powers, like kicking members just for fun or taking over the channel
with other scripting programs, changing the subject, acting insubordinate or
irresponsible, not respecting the rules etc will result in you losing your OP
privileges. Also, be aware that failure to uphold the rules, OR tardiness in
doing so will also result in losing op privileges. Any such actions witnessed
by regular chatters or other op's must be IMMEDIATELY reported to the king,
using the Register Complaint option in the members area.
§7 Acquiring avoice/op status
To get avoice status you must have a registered nickname, you must be online
quite a bit, know the way IRC works, know all the rules off by heart and act
mature and responsible.
To get OP status you must be online a lot, know all the needed requirements
for avoice and of course more. you must know how to kick someone, how to ban
someone how to avoice someone, how to de-voice someone etc.
Also note that even if you meet all these requirements it still depends on other
circumstances like *does the room have enough op's already or *have you been
in Hapes long enough. it does not mean you will definitely get op right away.
§8 AOP's must do their job as well or loose their AOP status (if for example
idling and not keeping an eye on the chat).
OTHER MISCELLANEOUS RULES:
§1 Hapan Gizmo
The Hapan gizmo is not to be kicked or fooled around with in any way. Talking
through the bot (whoever controls him) is also prohibited and can result in
losing AOP privileges or a ban from the room (both bot and owner).
§2 Chat logs
The bot will be logging the room. The logs themselves can be used as evidence
should some unwanted scene arise. However, other members are encouraged to keep
their own logs.
§3 The Chat room
Remember, the chat room is there for you to get to know each other, to talk
to your fellow officers, to show your character to others and practice your
skills. Also remember that this is a game, we are playing star wars... play
the game, and most of all; have fun!
RPG’s
It is not allowed for any Hapan member to officially roleplay the Hapes Consortium
in ANY IC rpg thread. Statements in chat rooms are also not allowed to make
officially. Posting on other groups message boards is considered the same, no
official statements on behalf of the Hapes Consortium. Any officer doing so
can be fined any amount from High Command or the King. If there is an RPG you
wish to attend on the Hapan side you must contact the King personally.
