HAPAN TECHNOLOGY

The technology of the Hapes Consortium can be said to be truly unique in the Galaxy. With an affinity for combining practical use and versatility with finesse and firepower, Hapan technology is often described as both beautiful and deadly, traits shared by the peoples of the Hapes Cluster. And much to the frustration of peoples outside the Cluster, the Consortium has yet to share or sell any of its designs, citing cultural preservation.

During its four millennia of separation from the outside Galaxy, the Hapes Consortium's technological developments came to mirror the nature of the isolationist government. Starships were designed specifically for the purpose of traversing or protecting the Cluster, and not foreign military conquest. With virtually no enemies to consider besides pirates, Hapan technology reflects a society that is at peace, yet not afraid to defend itself.

Most of the Consortium's technological achievements have originated in the Rifle Worlds region, which has been the nexus of industrial and research activity for millennia. The people inhabiting this region coined a term for their standards that over the years came to be considered synonymous with Hapan industrial efforts; "Endara" meaning "Superior Technology."

Manoeuvrability: 2
Max Passengers: 4,000
Hull: 16,000
Shield: 12,000
Ionic Capacity: 8,000
Sensors: 21
Armament:
- 100 Turbolaser Batteries
- 40 Ion Batteries
- 20 Heavy Lasers
- 15 Tractor Beam Protectors
- 10 Proton Torpedo Launchers

The Pulsar Battle Cruiser is the flagship of the Royal Hapan Armed Forces and is the culmination of centuries of Hapan research and development funneled into one all-encompassing design and purpose. Intended to be a concentrated heavy weapons platform, its 170 weapon emplacements can cut through nearly all other capital ships before the Pulsar's thick overlapping shields even weaken to expose its heavily armored hull. The turbolasers are strategically spaced neatly down both its lateral wings so that a single well-placed explosion from a proton torpedo or space bomb would not be able to take out more than one emplacement at a time. Their position along the lateral wings also makes the bow of the ship the focus of the Pulsar's firepower, and Hapan weapon officers usually synchronize the first salvo of turbolaser fire by spacing out the shots across a full second to give it the appearance of two intimidating wing-like sheets of menacing green energy reaching out to smother its opposition. Rotary defensive heavy lasers and ion batteries line the topside and underbelly of the Pulsar's long neck, protecting the ship against fighters and missiles from all angles and extending its capability to disable ships. A healthy complement of proton-torpedo launchers and tractor beams top-off the Pulsar's imposing arsenal of weapons.

With versatility and long operational reach in mind, the Pulsar Battle Cruiser is equipped with large bays and a powerful hyperdrive system. Its launch bays typically hold a swarming mass of Miy'Til space superiority fighters and strategic Hetrinar Assault Bombers, which can be sent out to engage the opposition from a distance or form a tight defensive screen around the ship. In addition, the Olanji/Charubah-developed Frond-class hyperdrive system gives the Pulsar a hyperdrive rating of 2, making it an atypically fast capital ship despite its high offensive and defensive ratings that would normally cripple a ship's speed. This feature allows the Pulsar Battle Cruiser to deploy anywhere across the Hapes Cluster in a matter of short hours, making it able to arrive in time to exert its tremendous military influence in any star system.

Launched 28 years after the end of the Hapan Civil War, this ship also functions as a symbol to the Hapan people as much as it is a system-dominating war vessel. The production of the Pulsar Battle Cruiser rallied the Hapan people behind a powerful visible icon and sealed away the remaining sentiments of betrayal and anger that lingered after the Civil War. Most of the artwork on the ship was chosen to remind the crew of their difficult history, but is displayed in a way to promote national pride and to encourage them to look eagerly toward a promising future. This ship now represents the indomitable united willpower of the Hapan nation, and boosts morale in any system that it cruises through.

Battle Dragon
Tech-BattleDragon.png

Length: 620 meters
Hyperspeed: 3
Sublight Speed: 20 MGLT
Manoeuvrability: 2
Max Passengers: 1,900
Hull: 5,000
Shield: 8,000
Ionic Capacity: 2,400
Sensors: 15
Armament:
- 40 Turbolaser Batteries
- 6 Ion Batteries
- 90 Heavy Lasers
- 1 Tractor Beam Protectors
- 10 Proton Torpedo Launchers

The Battle Dragon was designed as a consequence of the Black Sun Crisis in 4029, when the Hapan government decided that the Nova-class Battle Cruisers were becoming obsolete as contact with the Galaxy outside the Hapes Cluster became more frequent. A research and development project ensued with the Battle Dragon as the final result. As it was introduced in 4030, it bolstered the Royal Hapan Navy's defensive and offensive capacity, and replaced the Nova-class Battle Cruiser as the premier warship of the Hapes Consortium.

The vessels are double saucer-shaped starships about 620 metres in diameter. They are heavily armed with over one hundred gun emplacements and consist of two saucers joined by the central core. Weapon turrets are mounted along the edge of the disks, set on a type of rapidly rotating link that encircles both platforms. As each turret fires, it rotates along the saucer rim, and the next cannon in line swings into place, fully charged and ready to fire. This configuration proved to be superior to a standard weapons battery design due to the speed at which the guns circled the saucer. While each individual cannon still spends about 90 percent of its combat time idle while it charges its capacitors, no gun is ever charged and idle, wasting time waiting for a clear shot. The net result was a sustained barrage of cannon fire directed at a single target. This is a considerable improvement over conventional capital ship design, since the rotating rim design assures that all weapons will be able to fire on the target, as opposed to fixed emplacements, where only the weapons with a line-of-sight to the target can ever fire.

Its armament, combined with formidable hull and shield rating, as well as impressive engine capacity, makes for a ship that is truly unique on the spacelanes.

- 10 Ion Batteries
- 10 Heavy Lasers

The Nova-class Battle Cruiser is a capital warship that has been used by the Royal Hapan Navy since reunification in 4000. While an aging design by Hapan standards, the ship is considered formidable and modern due to its sleek appearance combined with heavy weaponry and impressive speed.

Its exterior design is based on the retired Quasar-class Battle Cruiser, albeit more heavily armed and sporting more state of the art engines. As decades have passed since the introduction of the Novas to the Hapes Consortium's military, the design has been revised and upgraded a number of times, resulting in slight variations in appearance among the ships in service. The most prominent upgrades have been engine capacity as well as structural integrity and hull rating, while the armaments have remained the same. Additional shield generators around the bridge section have also been introduced.

Nova-class Battle Cruiser tactics have been changed as interactions with the outside Galaxy have become more frequent and the Hapes Consortium has confronted enemies more formidable than the various small-time pirate groups that previously plagued the Hapes Cluster. The cruisers are now typically deployed for escort duty of Battle Dragons, and operate in larger groups to swarm and dominate more heavily armed and slower capital ships.

Powered by four thrust engines and armed with two ion cannons on the wingtips and three heavy lasers under the cockpit, this fighter packs a powerful punch. Known as the Hapan-designed fighter found throughout the Cluster, the Miy'Til is said to be a competent rival of other fighters in its class. The small chassis has a long main cockpit with two downward angled wings giving it an almost bat-like appearance. Due to the small size, Hapan engineering ingenuity is brought full circle, showcasing numerous miniaturized aspects from other fighters. An astromech socket installed in the cockpit section allows an astromech unit to be used for in-flight navigation and operations.

Ionic Capacity: 80
Sensors: 1
Armament:
- 2 Heavy Lasers
- 1 Concussion Missile Launchers
- 2 Proton-Torpedo Launcher

The Hetrinar Assault Bomber entered service in 4030 as a follow-up to the success of the Miy'til Interceptor design. The Royal Hapan Navy longed to replace the derelict R-41 Starchasers and the Royal Hapan Support Corps was tasked with designing a heavy bomber that could be deployed against capital ships and immobile targets such as enemy facilities and space stations.

While considered slow, the Hetrinar has impressive weaponry and is capable of taking quite a beating before it has to retreat from the battlefield. Due to the lack of hyperdrive, the bombers are attached to capital ships and smaller carriers.

Atlas-class Troop Transport Shuttle
Tech-Atlas.png

Length: 30 meters
Hyperspeed: 5
Sublight Speed: 50 MGLT

Max Passengers: 40
Hull: 100
Shield: 110
Ionic Capacity: 50
Sensors: 1
Armament:
- 2 Heavy Lasers
- 1 Ion Cannon

The Atlas Troop Transport Shuttle is one of the newer ship designs to come out of Olanji/Charubah's factories. With a rapidly growing Royal Hapan Armed Forces, the need to quickly and efficiently transport personnel from one place to another prompted the Royal Council to request its design and commission in early 4031. The shuttle was designed in a joint effort by the Royal Engineering Corps and Olanji/Charubah, and put into production later that same year.

Far more efficient than using capital ships, freighters, or fighters to transport personnel, the result was a stylish and fast transport that has quickly earned a place in the military, government and civilian sectors. The Atlas shuttle rolled off the assembly lines at an astonishing rate, due to its lightweight construction that helped keep material cost down. With strong engines and a roomy interior, the shuttle quickly proved itself capable of delivering entire squads or personnel in a single trip. While normally not armed, the shuttle can be modified fairly easily to have a minimal weapons package installed, giving it some small ability to defend itself.

Length: 4 meters
Speed: 100 km/h
Manoeuvrability: 4
Max Passengers: 1
Hull: 40
Ionic Capacity: 30
Armament:
- 2 Medium Blasters

The H-1 Light Battle Tank is the premier battle tank of the Hapes Consortium, introduced in 4026 as an alternative to older and less effective tank models. It was the last vehicle still in service that was designed with the help of Charubah Industries, previously the finest heavy weapons producer of the Consortium. Today the tanks are widely used in the Royal Hapan Army, deployed alongside AT-PT walkers in planetary garrisons. The amazing speed of the vehicles make up for what it lacks in firepower and armour, enabling it to traverse the countrysides of many large Hapan worlds.

Hapan Blaster class-1 Personal Sidearm (HB-1)
Tech-HB-1.png

Equippable: Primary, Secondary
Weight:: 1.6 kg
Volume: 0.1000 m3
Damage Type: Energy
Maximum Hits: 4
Minimum Damage: 7
Maximum Damage: 12
Minimum Range: 0
Maximum Range: 2

The HB-1 was put into circulation in 4028 and remains in production today. Its rugged durability and superiority over the aging RAGC-P30 design was what landed this model as the official sidearm of the Royal Hapan Armed Forces. The HB-1 was the first firearm to be produced in the new factories on Charubah, and replaced the antiquated RAGC-P30. With the current Hapan armed forces sidearm, the RAGC-P30, having no significant improvement in its design in nearly fifty years, the Royal Council was approached with a new design for a proposition to equip all of its officers with a newer, more durable, and more powerful sidearm at a fraction of their production costs. The Royal Council jumped on the proposition, returning to the producer less than three days later with a ten year contract. Though the company initially supplied the firearms to current officers at a loss, the profit accumulated over the course of the ten year contract is forecast to be rather generous.

The sidearm, like most other blaster pistols is used by simply pointing the gun at your target and squeezing the trigger. While the HB-1 has a shorter range than most other blaster pistols, it has a significantly more powerful bolt, and is significantly easier to become proficient with. The gun could be set to two different modes. The first and most commonly used mode is semi-automatic, which is used most frequently in close quarters combat where the risk of hitting a friendly target was very real. In this mode, with each squeeze of the trigger, one blaster bolt is fired from the barrel, making it easier to ensure the bolts fired hit their intended target. The second mode is stun, in which each squeeze of the trigger fires a paralyzing bolt of energy at the target. This mode is mainly used when it is necessary to use non-lethal force to capture or restrain a target instead of killing them.

Hapan Blaster class-5 Assault Rifle (HB-5)
Tech-HB-5.png

Equippable: Primary, Secondary, Back
Weight:: 3.8 kg
Volume: 0.3000 m3
Damage Type: Energy
Maximum Hits: 5
Minimum Damage: 7
Maximum Damage: 11
Minimum Range: 3
Maximum Range: 5

The HB-5 assault rifle was put into circulation in 4028 and remains in production today. Developed and produced parallel to the HB-1 Blaster Pistol, the HB-5 uses many of the same components as the HB-1 which allows the factories to keep production costs down on both of the weapons. The HB-5 Assault Rifle was designed to be the primary weapon of Hapan ground troops and security forces. The HB-5 was the second firearm to be produced in the new factories of Charubah, and replaced the aging RAGC-A45 as the official assault rifle of the Hapan Armed Forces. After reviewing the HB-1, the Royal Council felt it necessary to upgrade the rest of its blaster arsenal, as well. The HB-5 was designed to help fulfill that goal, complementing the HB-1 Blaster Pistol and the HB-11 Heavy Assault Rifle. Each of these new designs were included in a contract to the Royal Council in which the entire armed forces would be rearmed at a fraction of actual cost. While the contractor took an initial loss on this contract, the profit expected over the course of the ten-year contract is estimated to be quite generous, even in less-than-favourable circumstances.

The HB-5 assault rifle, like most other firearms, is used by simply pointing the gun at your target and squeezing the trigger. Due to the length of the barrel, the HB-5 has an average range for a blaster rifle, which is nearly 3 times the range of a blaster pistol. While the blast from the HB-5 is less powerful than many other publicly available blaster rifles, the extreme precision and high quality of craftsmanship makes the HB-5 significantly more accurate than most other rifles on the market, making it far easier to use and become proficient with, with less than 1% of the total shots fired going astray from its target. The gun has two different firing modes, semi-automatic and stun. Each mode can be quickly switched between via a switch near the users thumb on their firing hand. This switch is present on both sides of the gun, allowing both right and left-handed users to switch between modes without having to remove either hand from the gun, or taking their sights off a target. The gun can be set to two different modes.

Hapan Blaster class-11 Heavy Assault Rifle (HB-11)
Tech-HB-11.png

Equippable: Primary, Secondary
Weight:: 24.5 kg
Volume: 0.5166 m3
Damage Type: Energy
Maximum Hits: 12
Minimum Damage: 2
Maximum Damage: 4
Minimum Range: 4
Maximum Range: 10

When the HB-11 first came into service in 4028, it suffered from two teething problems. The first was the tendency of the barrel to overheat after only limited sustained fire, and the second was its relatively low stopping power for a heavy blaster of its size. Originally intended to be used as an anti-starfighter gun for the infantry, the project was almost canceled because of the shortcomings the weapon had. The deficiencies of this weapon were soon overcome after several relatively minor modifications were made. The barrel was reinforced with extra durasteel to help combat overheating and the cyclic rate of fire was increased by cleverly installing a microprocessor to precisely manage the power output of the 100 shot powercell. With overheating eliminated and the relatively weak stopping power compensated for by having more bolts strike the target in a shorter amount of time, this weapon became a fearsome complement to infantry squads. Although it never excelled at providing anti-starfighter defense due to a lack of a targeting control system, the weapon is capable of being deployed to quickly eliminate waves of attacking infantry or light battle droids.

Hapan Ceremonial Armor
Tech-HapanCeremonialArmor.png

Equippable: Chest
Weight:: 16 kg
Volume: 0.1400 m3
Armour Rating: 40
Diplomacy: +1
Dexterity: +1

With each entity of this type being handcrafted for its individual purpose, the design of the Hapan Ceremonial Armour varies greatly. Typically the armor pieces are extremely light, yet also very durable and provide the user with excellent protection. Due to the armour's low weight and the fact that it is manufactured for a specific individual, it does not limit movement, and perfectly fits the person using it; those that have worn the armour sometimes describe it as "second, thick skin". What also must be noted are the servomechanisms that support, and even improve, the mobility of the person that uses the armour - greatly improving dexterity and subsequently the chances of survival during hostile engagements. Due to the fact that the Hapan Ceremonial Armour is issued to Hapans that serve the King personally in the Chume'doro or those that have earned the privilege of wearing the armour through military achievements, there is a sense of respect and entitlement that comes with the armour. It is generally assumed that someone who is fortunate enough to wear the Hapan Ceremonial Armour is not an ordinary citizen, but rather someone who has proved his or her courage, honour and intelligence in service to the King.
