The logo of the HNN rotates on the screen before fading away and revealing the familiar face of Anacia Chalcedon sitting in the studio with the magnificent Castle of Per’Agthra in the background. She smiles as the graphic to the left of her displays the image of a beautiful white building.

“The major event of the day was the long anticipated opening of the brand new Royal Hapan Library. Construction and development of the library by the Ministry of Culture begun last year and has been split in to three major parts. The Royal War Museum of Selab for all military related information, the Castle of Per’Aghtra library for all information related to the monarchy and nobility and finally the library of Lorell Hall for all government related information. All of these can be accessed via portals on the interactive holosite of the central library.

The Minister of Culture, Lord Alexander Tylger, and many high profile individuals attended the grand opening on Hapes Prime; including Minister of External Affairs Ariath Windcloud, Lord of the Order of Tarii Andrew Starfyre II, Minister of Justice Celestin Abriel, retired Grand Marshall of the Draconian Fighter Corps Vali Trini’qar and Lady Ynsin Ci’hani of Varn.”

The image shifts, showing the exterior of the Royal Hapan Library structure in the centre of Chume’Dan where thousands of eager patrons of culture and history have gathered. A small podium has been erected by the entrance as the Hapan noble dressed in his traditional white Tarii uniform moves to address the crowd.

“Imagine the pride of a titan such as Queen-Mother Tini’duran III who ruled during the Antiquity Era if she saw the marvel of Hapan culture today. She laid the foundation for one of the greatest civilisations the galaxy has ever seen. Imagine the pride of Queen-Mother Dal’kuran VI who in 2217 announced the Hapan way of life as ‘perfect’. What could she possibly say today now that we have exceeded her perfect society by far?

The greatness of a nation is not in the turbolasers mounted on any ship, nor in the rifles born by its people, nor in the credits that fills its treasuries. The greatness of a nation is its people! The greatness of a nation is in its culture and way of life! Without such things we would be nothing but nameless creatures alone in the dark and cold galaxy. Our past and way of life shapes our existence in such a way that we can proudly announce ‘We are Hapans!’

We have overcome countless obstacles and are now truly in our golden age. The fires of the civil war swept across out starcluster and burned our society to the ground. We built it back up, harnessed all that was good and rid us of all that was bad like a phoenix from the flame. We are now at a pinnacle in Hapan history, rising and rising to even greater heights!

It is with great pleasure that I announce the opening of the Royal Hapan Library on the fourth anniversary of my ascension to the position of Minister of Culture. This is my life’s work and shall continue to be the centre of my attention in the time ahead as we aim to complete more of the library. It is my gift to the Hapan peoples, both past and present, who strived to make the Consortium what it is today. Their efforts have now been documented for all to see. I hope you all enjoy and appreciate it. Thank you.”

To applause from the crowd, Lord Tylger moves to the entrance of the library and cuts the red ribbon. The doors open automatically and the crowd slowly begins to move up the stairs, following the VIP guests in to the building.

Slowly the image fades out and Chalcedon appears on screen again.

“Among the highlights of the VIP guided tour today was Minister Abriel’s opening of the legal archive section followed by retired Grand Marshall Trini’qar’s introduction to the wing devoted to the Hapan civil war. In the form of interactive holograms, authentic items on display and countless datapads the history of the Consortium has been brought to life. The Ministry of Culture has announced that the library will be open around the clock in order to accommodate all visitors.

You can access the interactive library portal now by pressing the left side of your datapad screen now.
