Hapan News Network

The theme of the Hapan News Network starts, displaying images from the Hapes Consortium’s most important member worlds before showing Hapes Prime and zooming in on the capital city of Chume’Dan. The logo of the channel appears before fading to the scene of Anacia Chalcedon in front of the gates of the Fountain Palace.

”Good day, fellow Hapans. This is Anacia Chalcedon reporting live from Chume’Dan on Hapes Prime where the ceremonial procedures relating to the official coronation of the new Rai’ix Chume have been ongoing all morning and afternoon. We are now minutes away from the big highlight of the day when the Sovereign will receive his crown.”

The view shifts to the massive crowds flocking in the enormous boulevards of Chume’Dan leading up to the behemoth Fountain Palace in the centre of the city, many of which are wearing their finest clothing for the historical occasion. The Chume’doro along with members of the Royal Hapan Armed Forces have a strong presence in the streets of the city, obviously ensuring that the celebrations are conducted in an orderly manner. Chalcedon’s voice is heard again as the camera provides a panoramic view of the palace complex.

“It has been approximately one month since King James announced his retirement live on the Hapan holonet, surprising the whole nation with a heartfelt good bye and giving his thanks to his loyal subjects. While the new King received full authority and powers immediately, the Consortium has since observed what is called ‘Month Of The Vacant Throne’ which has been customary since the Arxianic dynasty of the First Expansion Era.

The coronation of a new monarch is a historical event that most Hapans of the human race do not experience often. It has been ten years since the coronation of King James and thirty-seven since the coronation of King Andrew. Prior to that, it had been ninety-four years since a monarch was crowned that would rule the entire Hapes Consortium.

Representatives of all the member worlds of the Consortium have travelled to Hapes Prime to witness and participate in the ceremony. They are currently gathering in the throne room along with distinguished guests and government officials. The Rai’ix Chume is rumoured to have spent approximately the last six hours within the mausoleum of the Fountain Palace where all the prior monarchs of the Hapes Consortium and Ta’a Chume are entombed, praying and receiving their divine guidance as is customary prior to officially taking the Throne.

We are now joined by Danara Bajetix, a Vilicus of House Tylger, who will provide us with some brief comments before the ceremony starts, now joins us. Vilicus Bajetix, what can you tell us about this morning’s events? Do you think there are any special monarchs that His Majesty may seek guidance from?”

A woman in her early forties appear on screen, clad in an extravagant white dress adorned with the pink and purple feathers of a Bliz across a large collar. The left side of her face is covered with the tattoos customary of retainers of House Tylger.

“His Majesty likely prayed before the tomb of Ta’a Chume, as she was and always will be the mother of our great nation. Besides her, Queen-Mother Tini’duran III and Queen-Mother Pal’durath VII are likely as the Rai’ix Chume has always looked up to them and was a Tini’duranist in his youth.”

“During the brief coronation ceremony where His Majesty officially received the Crown Prince title from King James some two-three months ago, the Rai’ix Chume claimed the surname Pal’durath in the official pledge. What can you tell us about that? Does this mean his reign will be an extension of the Pal’durath dynasty?”

“Not necessarily. I would say it is more along the lines of King James’ being of the Tini’duran dynasty, albeit a very distant relative, as House Tini’duran still exists separately of House James and we also consider the reign of James a separate legacy in its own right. Likewise, the Rai’ix Chume had close ties to one branch of the Pal’durath dynasty growing up, as Princess Da’tan Pal’durath married Count Xariq Tylger, His Majesty’s great uncle, following the outbreak of the Hapan Civil War in 3946. Lana Da’tanah, their daughter, and later Princess of the Draconian Union, adopted His Majesty in his youth, as was often customary for Hapan royalty without children of their own. With the death of Da’tanah and the end of the war, we had King Andrew come to power with the blessing of all the surviving noble houses. A new system of succession was established and there was essentially no room for any old claims to the Throne that arose from Civil War politics. For the better, I would say.”

“Princess Da’tan and her daughter Princess Da’tanah are often remembered as ruthless rulers who brought misery and oppression to many Hapan worlds. Are you concerned that House Tylger’s connection and His Majesty’s status as Da’tanah’s heir may be a burden on the new reign? Will today mark the start of a Draconian Era?”

“When King Andrew appointed then-Lord Tylger as Prime Minister in 4026, the same worries and accusations arose. I would say these are baseless fears coming from individuals who have failed to embrace the internal peace the Consortium enjoys and dwell on a distant past. Reparations have been made and no action has been taken by our House to bring harm to any of the Consortium’s worlds or its peoples. Is this the start of a Draconian Era? Maybe. I believe the Rai’ix Chume still adheres to many of the ideological stances of Da’tanah, as he is a conservative, but this will not be a reign of terror; It will be one of harmony, cultural rejuvenation and progress.”

“Thank you, Vilicus. I believe the ceremony is about to begin, so we now bring you live footage from the throne room of the Fountain Palace!”

The view shifts to the throne room where there is a large assembly of individuals seated on either side of the blue and gold qashmel carpet that stretches from the main entrance of the chamber to the throne. Low murmurs of voices indicate the excitement and anticipation of the crowd. Banners displaying the symbols and colours of the Consortium’s worlds hang from the marvellous Ice Moon friezes that decorate the walls above the enormous panoramic windows of the hall. A Hapan-Morthorni female stands in before the throne and an elaborately decorated altar. Finally eight members of the Chume’doro step out of the line of soldiers along the aisle and raise their dugglehorns, sounding the Royal Fanfare. The crowd first stands, then kneels with heads bowed.

The giant door leading to the Hall of Masters opens and the new Rai’ix Chume, Alexander Tylger, enters. The monarch moves down the aisle dressed in a ceremonial white and silver uniform with a heavy blue and gold cloak adorned with an ermine hood over a collar of pure Hapan web-silk. He is trailed by his six Tetrarchs and an assortment of retainers who take seats on the front row, save for Tara Tylger, the new commander of the Chume’doro who moves to the right to stand with the rest of the Royal Guard.

Tylger moves up the steps towards the throne and stands before the altar. The Morthorni bows respectfully before removing the diamond orb known as the Chume Xil Hapesah from a pillow carried by a royal handmaiden, and placing it on the centre of the altar. The most important piece of regalia, crafted during the Pal’durath dynasty when the Consortium reached its full expansion, is an orb containing sixty-three small Ice Moon gems that form a three-dimensional map of the Cluster and represent the Consortium’s member worlds. The Rai’ix Chume nods and kneels before the altar, folding his hands in front of the glittering orb.

“Kel qesh Ta’a Chume L naq ceres al execetores Rai’ix Chume nadaji jua’h-tira planas e Hapes Enexilanthiusah, lin ultim tarixis endari qualis a coph, juri, naadili, ere eulys la zaqash for’ta dominatar, illiaru e Hapanii lin siv’aj! Sa L istario!” Tylger declares loudly, giving the Royal Oath.

“Sellir nadaji jua’h-tira planas e Hapes Enexilanthiusah, daxus Alexander Tylger Pal’durath Arxianah lin Rai’ix Chume n Hapes,” the Morthornii declares.

A handmaiden steps forward, carrying the Royal Crown on an ornate pillow. The Morthorni lifts the regalia high above her, letting rays of sunlight coming from the giant windows reflecting off the royal emblem above the throne hit it, bathing the room in a sea of golden light. She then smiles and lowers the crown, placing it on the new Rai’ix Chume’s head.

The King stands and nods to the Morthorni who bows and opens two elongated boxes, producing the sceptres Cal Nele’serin and Cal Fenixius and presents them to the monarch. He accepts them before moving up the final three steps and taking his seat on the throne situated underneath the royal emblem.

A brief fanfare sounds from the dugglehorns of the Chume’doro and the members of the Heritage Council rise, stepping up before the throne where they kneel respectfully, save for King James who remains standing.
“Sirius Tarix Tilaxil Mathonoreah amaria Mathonore lin e ceres e Chumeah,” Lord Threestars declares.
“Vang Tarix Tyrridon Dreema’ah amaria Dreema lin e ceres e Chumeah.”
“Tovakinpi Tarix Toshikhan Zaa’ah amaria Zaa lin e ceres e Chumeah.”
“Gane Tarix Lant Alsaceah amaria Alsace lin e ceres e Chumeah.”
“Zayth Tarix Kadrim Sionah amaria Sion lin e ceres e Chumeah.”
“Locke Tarix Chume Firecam Sarrah amaria Sarr, Tirsa, Zukan, Charu, Varn, Abaem Lorell y Hapan lin e ceres e Chumeah.”
“Jessy Rex’ca James Riiah amaria Rii lin e ceres e Chumeah.”

The Rai’ix Chume nods and the nobles and royalty return to their seats before representatives of all the Consortium’s member races move up to the throne.

“E amari e Hapani-human lin e ceres e Chumeah,” a human female declares, kneeling.
“E amari e Hapani-Morthorni lin e ceres e Chumeah,” a large feline being declares, bowing.
“E amari e Hapani-Varno lin e ceres e Chumeah,” an official of the aquatic Varno declares.
“E amari Hapani-Jeby lin e ceres e Chumeah,” a curious being with multiple head declares.
“E amari Hapani-Thrakiani e ceres e Chumeah,” an insectoid being declares.
“E amari Hapani-Kettoni e ceres e Chumeah,” a bulky reptilian alien declares.
“E amari Hapani-Belgori e ceres e Chumeah,” a small feline creature declares.
“E amari Hapani-Mairani e ceres e Chumeah,” an aquatic being floating in a portable tank filled with water declares through its protocol droid.

The Rai’ix Chume nods again and the beings return to their places. The Royal Fanfare sounds and the crowd of the giant chamber rise to their feet as the sound of bells are heard spreading across Chume’Dan, a chime sounding for each of the Consortium’s member worlds, drawing ecstatic cheers from the crowd gathered outside the palace complex.

The voice of a female cries out to the officials in the throne room. "Your Majesties, Your Excellencies, Your Honours, subjects of the Hapan throne! The Erenedi, His Majesty Alexander Rai’ix Chume Tylger Pal’durath Arxianah y Hapesah! Guardian of the Hapan Throne, protector of the Hapes Consortium and supreme ruler of all the Hapan peoples!” The clear voices of the Royal Choir of Ut sing the Royal Anthem as the Rai’ix Chume moves down the aisle trailed by the Chume’doro and a procession of Hapan officials. The picture fades to that of Chalcedon standing outside the Fountain Palace once again, the sound of fireworks and cheers almost drowning out the voice of the petite female reporter.

“That concludes the official coronation ceremony. The new king gave the Royal Oath before being crowned by Nilij Cal’taru. The Tarii then pledged the allegiance of all the Consortium’s systems before each member race submitted to the power of the Sovereign.

HNN is receiving word that celebration has broken out across the Hapes Cluster, with each world celebrating in unique ways. We will continue to keep our viewers posted as the celebrations continue. The Fountain Palace has released an official statement indicating that the Rai’ix Chume is scheduled to make an address to the outside Galaxy via the GNS some time soon. Furthermore, an elaborate coronation ball is being planned where foreign individuals will be invited to attend. We will be back with more as the story develops!”
