The familiar tune of the Hapan News Network begins, accompanied by the recognizable introduction montage, before Anacia Chalcedon appears on screen in front of the backdrop of Chume'Dan.

"Good evening, Hapes. Here is HNN with the latest news.

Lorell Hall left Hapans in all walks of life stunned today when the Royal Council officially announced the retirement of Alley Trepe as Minister of Finance. Sources inside the government chambers say that Trepe announced her retirement to the Consortium's senior government body ten days ago, surprising most of her colleagues.

Trepe was appointed to the position in 4035, and was the sixth Minister of Finance since King Andrew's reign. She was the third woman to hold the position, following in the footsteps of Carrie Jade and Aviana Badara.

The Crown released a statement indicating that it has not yet raised the point of successor within the Royal Council. Lord Gane Lant has been appointed to take on the position of acting Minister of Finance to manage wages for the Consortium's major departments until such time that a replacement has been found. Trepe's duties associated with the management of nationalized corporations is re-delegated back to the Ministry of Industry for the time being.

The King met with select members of the press inside Lorell Hall to issue a personal statement on Trepe's retirement."

The image shifts to the interior of a small press conference room where the Hapan monarch is standing behind an elevated podium. Tylger is dressed in a pristine white uniform decorated with golden epaulettes on the shoulders, tzimernut embroideries across the chest, and a royal blue sash that is pinned to the tunic with various emblems and crests. Looking up at the gathered journalists, he smiles sadly before he speaks.

"Good evening.

It was with shock and great sadness that the members of the Royal Council received the news of Alley Trepe's retirement from the post of Minister of Finance. She will be taking a leave of absence from her service to the Hapan government in order to focus on herself and her personal life.

Alley's journey within the Consortium began over four years ago in 4033, when she came to us from the Galactic Empire and enlisted in the Royal Hapan Armed Forces. She soon transferred to the Olanji Corporation as Director of Marketing, rising to be second in command and president under the leadership of Lord Dortan Amethius. Following Amethius to the Ministry of Industry, she became a Commissioner in the Civil Service. One of the Consortium's shining stars, she was appointed to the Royal Council as Minister of Finance in 4035, part of then-Prime Minister Lant's cabinet, and also served as Associate Minister of Industry.

It was as Minister of Finance that we saw Alley live up to her full potential, embracing her new duties and expanding the job description of her new office over the years she held it. An expert in the field of galactic economics, Alley was able to find new sources of revenue for the Hapan state and executed her mandate with unparalleled enthusiasm.

Alley was a rare and precious gem for Hapes. She brought a contagious, positive attitude to the Royal Council, always eager to provide advice and encouraging words. Unquestionable loyalty to the Hapes Consortium was one of her greatest attributes, which is what made it possible for me, and King James before me, to trust her with such vast funds. Her office has been one we have entrusted to only a faithful few, and that is why the void she leaves behind in the Hapan government will be so hard to fill. It is not a decision I am eager to make.

For her devotion to the Hapes Consortium over the years, I award her the newly ordained gold medal of service, as well as the medal of VBGP. The latter denotes the Hapan ideals of valor, bravery, glory and pride, virtues Alley took very seriously.

As someone who has known Alley for almost a decade, I received the news of her retirement with an extremely heavy heart. She will be sorely missed by myself, the Royal Council, and the many other Hapans who have befriended her. We retain a glimmer of hope that she will one day return to active duty to serve once again.

Thank you."

The view shifts back to Chalcedon in the HNN studio.

"We will be back with more news on the successor for the position of Minister of Finance as the situation develops. After the break we will have sports and weather, followed by 'Eye on the Stenness Node - The Future of the Hapes-Trade Federation Alliance'. Stay tuned."
