Maritime Study Brings New Light to the Deep

A group of esteemed Hapan scientists recently launched an extensive survey of the maritime life hidden in the depths of Dathomir’s oceans, and already their findings are extraordinary. With the aid of deep-sea submersibles and powerful sensor equipment, the scientists have discovered a number of previously unknown species of marine life dwelling in the deepest and darkest of Dathomir’s ocean trenches. Ranging from a long, paper-thin sea worm to a small, iridescent fish with enormous fan-like fins, these intriguing new creatures are being touted as yet another facet of Dathomir’s incredible ecological diversity.
Survey Team Leader Dr. Wheul Anglur was thrilled with the team’s success so early on in the project, and hopes that that success will be equaled throughout the rest of their dives. “It’s always exciting when we are able to discover things that no one else has ever seen before,” Anglur said, “This study could provide a wealth of such new and remarkable information about Dathomir’s oceans, beautiful jewels that they are. We can only hope that people will take an active interest in further studying and protecting these unique organisms.”
Though some critics of the study protest that government funds could be better spent elsewhere, the vast majority of public opinion seems to side with the scientists, as most Hapans see such environmental research as a top priority. Private philanthropists have also chipped in with generous contributions upon hearing of the team’s progress. Children and adults alike are expected to flock to an exhibition of holo-images of these bizarrely beautiful creatures to be presented later this month at a lecture given by Dr. Anglur and his team.
