Your holoscreen comes to life as the Hapan News Network logo flashes across the screen and the brassy theme song plays. The logo then fades away to the HNN news anchor, Anacia Chalcedon, as she appears with a gleaming smile. The music comes to a stop as Anacia begins.
"Good evening, ladies and gentlmen. Tonight, we have a story unlike one I've ever heard. This morning, on the planet of Hapes, a man entered an eating contest, and came out with more than a stomach full of food. In a mere fifteen minutes, this man ate twelve nerf burgers, setting the sector record for most nerf burgers eaten in fifteen minutes.
We now go to our correspondent covering the story, Ensign Sam Starkiller who is with us on voice-com. Good evening Sam."
"Good evening Anacia."
The picture on screen cuts to a shot of the new record-holder, consuming one of the twelve nefburgers he devoured.
"This man, Jaggo Katre, is not one that looks like he could eat twelve nerfburgers in fifteen minutes. Weighing in at a mere 82 kilograms, no one would expect this great feat out of him. The previous record of nine nerfburgers in fifteen minutes, held by Hasheem Brenstrom, seemed unbeatable, until Jaggo stepped up to the table.
When asked about his accomplishment, he replied with this, "I entered the contest just for a cheap lunch. I had no idea I could eat that much. The entry fee was ten credits, which I easily coughed up. In five minutes, I was seated at a big table along with thirty other people, and twenty nerfburgers in front of me. The next thing I knew, I felt sick to my stomach as a huge crowd was cheering for me."
The dazed Jaggo walked out of the contest with a five thousand credit prize, and a new record to his name. This surely is a story of the ages. Anacia, back to you."
Anacia appears back on screen with the lush Hapan background behind her.
"Thank you, Sam. That's not something you hear everyday."
The HNN theme song begins to play again as Anacia chuckles to herself for a moment.
"When we come back, we'll have a sports update from around the Consortium."
